I have a Dell flat panel that measures over 17" at the diagonal that I bought for my gf, but it stopped working. It continuously shuts off. If anyone knows how I can get it fixed (without spending more than 100-200), please let me know. It cost about $450 new and it seems like such a waste to have it in my closet. I bought two of these a few months ago, one of which still works great, and neither are under warranty.

If you are interested in the parts or know how to fix it, I'm willing to negotiate a fair price.
Post or email nickseluk@hotmail.com.

Thanks

Well the first thing that came to mind was, your warranty would probally cover it, then I read on and you said that they aren't under warranty. If you purchase them from dell are the monitors covered? I had thought of buying a flatscreen, so I just wondered. I had a Dell computer for about 5 years and a great friend reformatted it for me and it runs awesome now. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

Hardware like that almost ALWAYS comes with at least a one year manufacturer's warranty. Have you confirmed with dell that these are in fact out of warranty?

I haven't confirmed, no...I don't have any paperwork so I assumed I wouldn't be eligible for warranty.
Is there a way I can check, like with the serial number?

Give dell a call and have the serial number of the monitor handy. If there's no signs of physical damage to the unit (assuming its under warranty) they should replace it at no cost.

Okay, thanks for the tip. I'm going to check it out tomorrow...

In the meantime, if anyone is interested in it for research, fixing, etc, let me know.
