I have been questioning giving plasma for about a year now.. Ever since that place opened. I already have a job on campus but wouldnt mind some err drinking/food money.

I was wondering if anyone has given plasma and if it is worth it?
How much have you made and are there any side effects?

Just any info would be great. It sounds like a easy few bucks!

They base how much plasma you give off your weight. I think the most plasma they'll take is like 880cc. There's three categories. The lowest one in 660cc, or something like that.

They pay you between 20-25 an appointment, depending on how valuable your plasma is. The first time you donate you only get 20, but the second time you are guaranteed 30 - you get a bonus for showing up twice. After that, it'll be 20 or 25 like I said. You can get 10 dollars if someone writes down that you referred them. (And if you'd like to be so generous and say I referred you, PM me and I'll give you my name :) )

As for side effects...
The anti-coagulant, or however you spell it, will give you a slightly metallic taste in your mouth. They rehydrate you with saline .. at room temperature which'll give you a nice little chill. The spot they put the needle might be a little sore.

Make sure you eat a good breakfast and drink lots of water, and that should help all around. Happy donating!

I have a friend that goes there like twice a week sometimes, so it cant be that bad. Not only is it worth the money, but your also doing a good service for someone who needs plasma and stuff.

be sure to drink lots of water and eat protein the day before too, it will go much faster.. i have given on and off since about april and i have had no side effects. the anti-coagulant causes you to not clot, which could be bad if you cut yourself or something afterwards, so just be careful.
also the techs that see you are really fun

it takes me about an hour once i get started, but you can expect to wait up to an hour before you get started, so one appointment wil take you about 2 hours

everyone I know does it (except me anymore)

it seems fine, as long as you arent afraid of needles

I do it all the time, the extra money is great. Watch when they're training new people though, some kid did his first poke on me today & damn near shoved the whole needle in my arm! You can request to have someone more experienced poke you though, I like Tina & Jerome. Also know that the first time you go, expect the appointment to be a MINIMUM of 3 hours long, they have to give you a physical.

wow, this was really informative. I've been thinking about donating too, because everyone around here knows that jobs don't pay all that great around here

yea, they weigh u everytime you go in there...I'm borderline though, & I make sure I wear heavy jeans & shoes...I wore shorts & flip flops ONCE in the summer & weighed in @ 111...they gave me a long lecture about what would happen if I lost another pound...just think hoodies if your borderline, you should be fine ;)
