my boyfriend and i don't even celebrate valentine's day. since I go here and he's 2 1/2 hours away, we have never even been together in person on a single valentine's day for the 3 years we been dating. my opinion is its a contrived Hallmark holiday and an excuse for females to demand chocolate, flowers, and romantic gestures. i'm not one of those females. i say be romantic when you feel like it, randomly, not because the calendar and society says you must.

Partying/dancing got my vote because that is mostly what me and all of my single friends will be doing. I've turned down two dates so I can have this Valentine's to spend with friends instead of schlopping around with some dude. We're doing the anti-valentines thing...dressing up in black, buying each other flowers (and I'm buying myself some jewelry that I've been looking at for a while), bar hopping, and taking shots whenever we hear the word "love". This is going to be the best valentine's day ever! I'm excited to spend one single. It's been a long time.

I have a lot of not so fun things going that day (ie. class, yearly physical, maybe a little work). That and my boyfriends birthday is the saturday following so we will more than likely not see each other on the 14th.

I love it when james leaves me voicemails just because he wanted to tell me hi and that he loved me. Oh yea, and he brought me a dozen roses a few weeks ago, just because... now THAT was romantic!

I hate Valentine's Day. I've only been in a relationship for a couple of them, but we always got in a fight or broke up on that stupid holiday. I hate being reminded that I'm single, now. It's not that I MIND being single, I just don't like all of that schlocky crap shoved down my throat.

i thought about how much of a loser i was too WJ, but i figured i shouldn't let it ruin my day. i thought of volunteering to work too, but i figured if my boss needed more help he'dve invited me (to help open the new store, yesterday he asked two guys to come in today, but no one else was asked). so yes, trying not to think of what a loser i am! focusing on the small things, like how nice it is to be up when the sun rises, and letting the sun make my head feel like i'm on a tropical island.....i could melt an ice cube on my head! but it feels nice. :D

P.S.- have fun at work! do a couple cartwheels for me!

I'm excited to go out tonight. Not because I plan on being slutty (mother raised a lady), but to laugh at all the ugly couples. Aaaaaand, I made sure that I was still single (I'm just at the beginning stages of hanging out with someone) so I could still enjoy my first Valentine's Day with friends and not an S/O in years. My dates tonight are a 23 year old grad student woman, a cute outfit, and beer (although I am having dinner with the boy). Yay for Valentine's Day!
